The Agored Cymru Access to Higher Education Diploma (Medicine) supports potential progression into a medical degree for suitable candidates. The Diploma has been developed to meet the Quality Assurance Agency’s subject descriptor for medicine that was developed in consultation with the British Medical Schools Council. The Diploma requires learners to engage in an intensive programme of study that includes a focus on a range of subject areas that are essential for preparation for progression to a medical degree including:

  • Physics and mathematics
  • Use and comprehension of numerical data
  • Professional behaviours

 

Assessment

The Access to Higher Education Diploma is a unitised qualification and is assessed by way of continuous assessment. The methods of assessment are varied and reflect those learners will encounter following their progression to higher education. Assessment methods include

  • Time constrained assessments/examinations

  • Multiple choice/single best answer questions
