Non - Executive Director

Job Description

Agored Cymru is a Welsh awarding body and social enterprise committed to helping learners of all ages and backgrounds realise their potential. With over 30 years’ experience, we design and deliver nationally recognised qualifications – from Essential Skills to Sustainability – working with schools, further education institutions, training providers, and employers across Wales and beyond.

We proudly champion bilingualism, equity, and social impact, actively supporting the Welsh language and the Welsh Government’s vision of a truly bilingual Wales.

We are now seeking to appoint a new Non-Executive Director with strong expertise in Human Resources and Employment Law to enhance the Board’s oversight of people strategy, workforce governance, and employment practice. We are particularly interested in individuals who can provide informed challenge and guidance on matters such as organisational culture, employee relations, employment legislation, wellbeing, and equality, diversity and inclusion.

Non-Executive Directors are expected to attend and contribute meaningfully to five Board meetings per year and to serve on one of our key committees: the Business, Finance & People Committee (BFPC) or the Quality Standards & Regulation Committee (QSRC) who meet four times per year.

In this role, you will support and constructively challenge the CEO and senior leadership team, contribute to the development of strategic priorities, and provide assurance on organisational performance and risk. A strong commitment to good governance, ethical leadership, equality, diversity, inclusion, and bilingualism is essential.

This is a rewarding opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping Agored Cymru’s strategic direction, strengthening our people governance, and supporting our mission to transform lives through education.
