The Head of Quality Assurance and Assessment will play a central role in safeguarding standards, protecting the integrity of certification decisions and ensuring that quality assurance systems remain robust, proportionate and responsive within an increasingly complex regulatory environment. 

Beyond regulatory compliance, this role provides a unique opportunity to shape the future development of quality assurance and assessment practice within Agored Cymru. The successful candidate will help influence how standards are maintained, how risk is managed and how quality assurance supports innovation, growth and learner success across a diverse and evolving qualification portfolio. 

As part of a newly strengthened leadership structure, the role forms one of the key pillars supporting Agored Cymru’s regulatory framework. Working alongside the Director of Qualifications and Assessment and the Compliance, Risk and Audit function, the Head of Quality Assurance and Assessment provides independent operational assurance that standards are being maintained, and regulatory obligations are being met. 

Reporting to the Deputy CEO and Responsible Officer, the successful candidate will provide leadership for quality assurance and assessment delivery across the organisation. They will lead the development of a modern, intelligence-led quality assurance framework that supports innovation while maintaining regulatory confidence and public trust.

Compliance, Risk & Audit Manager  

Job Description 

The Compliance, Risk and Audit Manager is responsible for supporting the organisation’s compliance, risk management, audit and assurance arrangements, ensuring that information relating to regulatory compliance, organisational risk and control effectiveness is accurate, robust and available to support effective decision-making. 

Working closely with the Responsible Officer, the postholder will provide independent assurance insight across quality assurance, qualification development and wider organisational activity, helping to identify risks, weaknesses and emerging issues before they impact organisational performance or regulatory compliance. 

The role will coordinate and integrate information from compliance monitoring, internal audit, self-assessment, complaints, appeals, malpractice, maladministration and risk management activity to provide a clear and evidence-based view of organisational assurance. 

As a key contributor to Agored Cymru’s governance framework, the postholder will support regulatory readiness, continuous improvement and organisational resilience through effective assurance, analysis, reporting and oversight.

Business Account Manager (FE/AHE)

Job Description 

The purpose of the role is: 

To drive revenue growth through the identification and conversion of new business opportunities for Agored Cymru. 

To lead strategic engagement through the development of strong, long-lasting relationships across the Tertiary Education sector in Wales. 

The postholder will act as a senior commercial lead within the Business Development Team, operating as a conduit between the Head of Business Development and the wider Business Development Team. The role will provide strategic direction, commercial oversight, and leadership support to ensure projects, opportunities, and growth plans are delivered effectively and consistently. 

This role requires an experienced and commercially focused sales/business development professional with up-to-date knowledge of the FE sector in Wales, leadership capability, and the ability to influence both external contacts and internal colleagues.

 

Role Accountabilities:  

 

Sales Performance and Strategic Account Management   

Achieve stretching sales targets that both defend and increase our market share within FE Colleges in Wales.

Implement the company’s sales strategy, ensuring results meet or exceed budget expectations. 

 

Contribute to organisational strategic and operational projects. 

Identify, analyse and report on market trends and insights to drive business decisions and continuous improvement. 

Support strategic partnership activities and wider stakeholder engagement. 

Provide accurate monthly revenue forecasts to aid organisational planning. 
 

Relationship Management & Commercial Delivery 

Build and maintain relationships at appropriate levels to achieve sales and income targets. 

Develop and work to a detailed contact strategy. 

Manage partnership contracts, agreements and collaborations, ensuring mutual compliance. 

Track and report customer opportunities, new business pipelines and successful outcomes. 

Identify funding developments and emerging market and skills needs to inform business growth. 
 
Market Development, Brand Growth & External Engagement 

Represent the organisation at relevant external events to promote the Agored Cymru brand and gather market intelligence. 

Collaborate with the Social Media & Marketing Officer to align campaigns with the sales strategy within the agreed customer base. 

Support targeted growth initiatives within FE colleges and Access to HE providers. 

Share relevant insights on education funding, policy changes and market drivers. 
 
Reporting & Data Management 

Provide data-led market insights for leadership and operational teams. 

Oversee and report on the financial performance across the allocated customer base. 

Produce sales, customer monitoring and performance reports using CRM and internal systems. 

Record and maintain accurate customer meeting notes, actions and follow-up activity. 

Monitor and report on competitor activity and sector developments to inform strategic decision-making.  

Customer Experience and Internal Collaboration  

Deliver a high standard of customer experience while maintaining strong commercial focus. 

Work collaboratively with internal teams to support delivery, remove barriers, and improve customer outcomes. 

Take ownership of resolving issues that may impact customer retention, growth, or revenue.

Exams & Assessment Officer 

Job Description 

To administer and coordinate the secure delivery of examinations and assessment activity, ensuring that all processes are conducted in a controlled, consistent and compliant manner. 

To act as a key control point within the assessment lifecycle, maintaining the integrity, security and accuracy of assessment materials, processes and outcomes. 

To ensure that all assessment delivery activity is effectively planned, managed and recorded, providing a clear and auditable evidence base to support regulatory compliance and organisational assurance. 

To provide internal support to Agored Cymru customer services on complex matters relating to centre administration of assessments, ensuring that requirements are clearly communicated, understood and applied consistently.  

To ensure that Agored Cymru is suitably prepared for each planned examination session, demonstrating clear plans for examiners, team leaders and the Chief Examiner. 

To ensure that any issues relating to assessment delivery, security or integrity are identified, documented and escalated appropriately.

The postholder will:

  • Plan and coordinate assessment delivery activity, ensuring that schedules, timelines and requirements are clearly defined and communicated.

  • Administer the secure handling, storage and distribution of assessment materials, ensuring that all processes are conducted in line with organisational and regulatory requirements

  • Maintain strict control over assessment materials, ensuring that confidentiality, security and integrity are preserved at all times.

  • Coordinate the receipt, tracking and return of assessment materials, ensuring that all materials are accounted for and recorded accurately.

  • Support centres in the administration of assessments, providing clear written only guidance on processes, requirements and expectations.

  • Provide support to Agored Cymru customer services on complex centre queries relating to assessment delivery, ensuring that information is consistent and aligned to organisational guidance.

  • Ensure that all assessment delivery activity is recorded accurately, maintaining complete and auditable records of materials, timelines, actions and outcomes.

  • Support the processing of assessment results, ensuring that data is accurate, complete and aligned to approved processes.

  • Assist in the preparation and issuing of results, ensuring that outputs are correct and delivered in a timely manner

  • Identify and document assessment incidents, irregularities or breaches of process, ensuring that these are recorded and escalated appropriately.

  • Support the administration of investigation processes relating to assessment delivery issues, ensuring that records are complete and accurate

  • Monitor assessment delivery processes to identify risks, issues or inefficiencies, ensuring that these are communicated and addressed.

  • Ensure that all assessment processes align with quality assurance requirements, supporting the integrity of certification decisions.

  • Support the preparation of documentation and evidence for audit, regulatory review and internal assurance processes.

We are now seeking to appoint new trustees with strong expertise in the following areas:

  • Human Resources and Employment Law to enhance the Board’s oversight of people strategy, workforce governance, and employment practice.
  • Colleges to strengthen the Board’s understanding of the further education and skills landscape, learner needs, and sector priorities.
  • Commercial to enhance the Board’s oversight of commercial strategy, sustainability, and growth opportunities.
  • Awarding and assessment to strengthen the Board’s oversight of qualification development, assessment practice, and awarding standards.

Trustees are expected to attend and contribute meaningfully to five Board meetings per year and to serve on one of our key committees: the Business, Finance & People Committee (BFPC) or the Quality Standards & Regulation Committee (QSRC) who meet four times per year.  

In this role, you will support and constructively challenge the CEO and senior leadership team, contribute to the development of strategic priorities, and provide assurance on organisational performance and risk.
