Judith Archer is a Curriculum Development Manager at Agored Cymru. She joined the organisation in 2009.
Judith is responsible for Agored Cymru’s curriculum development in Essential Skills for practitioners and learners. She is the lead contact for Welsh Government policy makers and other stakeholders, and manages allocated project activity and the development and review of provision and resources. Judith also specialises in accreditation for learners at entry level and their support staff.
Judith has extensive experience in working within Essential Skills in a variety of roles. She was the Lead Manager for Basic Skills at the Community Learning Franchise of Coleg Gwent and a teacher trainer for many organisations, most recently at the University of South Wales, where she was part of the development and delivery team for the Level 5 Certificate in Teaching Adult Numeracy. She has taught literacy and numeracy in Caerphilly and Newport Adult Community Learning.
In 2008, Judith was awarded the Caerphilly Adult Basic Skills Tutor of the Year. In 2009, she was voted the NIACE Adult Basic Skills Tutor of the Year and NIACE Inspire Tutor Mentor of the Year.
Prior to moving to South Wales in 1989, Judith was a Senior Research Scientist at the British Food Manufacturing Industries Research Association where she worked on a number of projects including developing methods to determine the authenticity of edible vegetable oils and orange juice. Judith also designed and delivered training events for delegates from the food industry from across Britain.
Judith holds an Honours Degree in Applied Chemistry, a Certificate in Dyslexia Support (LLU+), a range of Essential Skills practitioner CPD and Assessor and Internal Verifier qualifications.
