1 Assignment consisting of 8 tasks will then be set.
This is a knowledge only award for those new to assessing, working towards becoming a qualified assessor or assessing learners as part of your teaching or training responsibilities. This qualification will prepare you with the knowledge and skills needed.
You will be expected to undertake self-study and to submit an assignment (consisting of 8 tasks) to support the assessment of this qualification.
By completing this course, you will gain a clear understanding of:
• The role of an assessor and the responsibilities of others involved in the assessment process
• Effective assessment planning techniques
• Various assessment methods and how to make sound assessment decisions
• Strategies for engaging learners in the assessment process
Requirements
• You must be 18+ years of age at the start of the course.
• It is recommended that you should have attended the Agored Cymru Introduction to Assessment training.
Qualification Structure and Content
In order to achieve this qualification learners will achieve the unit:
Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (Unit Code: GB83CY109)
Your assessor will provide information regarding how the qualification will be assessed, give deadlines for submission and feedback on your assessment.
You will be entitled to a maximum of 2 hours of 1-2-1 Tutorial Support if necessary, from your assessor.
Any additional time you (the learner) require for this, you will be charged in advance at £60 per hour.
Assignment Submission Timeline
First Submission: Your first submission will be due within 6 weeks of your last online Microsoft Teams session.
Final Submission: After sending it to your Assessor for feedback and guidance, you will have a further 4/6 weeks to complete and submit your second and final assignment.
Once you submit your final assignment, it will go through Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) and External Quality Assurance (EQA) processes before your award is issued.
You will be provided with exact submission dates at the start of the course.

This qualification is intended for those who need an understanding of the principles and practices of assessment without any requirement to practice as assessors. This is a knowledge-only award for those who are starting their journey as an assessor, or those who need to know about assessment practice but are not currently practising.
It is recommended that you should have attended the Agored Cymru Introduction to Assessment training.

You will be required to attend four half-day interactive sessions where you will develop the knowledge and understanding required to assess. You must attend all four sessions.
Progression opportunity
Please note: Booking onto this training confirms you have booked onto the Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment ONLY.
Following successful completion of the Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment unit, you will have the opportunity to undertake the Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding unit.
Successful achievement of both units will give you Agored Cymru Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement . This will be at an additional cost and entry requirements.
