Maxine Pittaway MBE
Maxine Pittaway, MBE joined the Board in 2011 as an elected member. Maxine is also a member of the Finance and General Purposes Committee.
Since 1994, Maxine has served as headteacher of the largest special school in Wales, St. Christopher’s School, Wrexham.
Under her management and leadership, St Christopher's School was awarded the Times Educational Supplement ‘Outstanding Special Needs School of the Year 2010‘. Last year, the school was shortlisted for ‘Outstanding Special Needs School of the Year 2013’.
Maxine has chaired the Wrexham Association of Secondary Headteachers. She has also been involved in the 14-19 Learning Pathways as well as contributing to numerous Local Authority groups addressing issues such as school improvements, admissions, finance, and additional learning needs.
In 2009, Maxine won the national Teaching Awards ‘DCSF Award for Enterprise.
