Purpose and Aim

This unit is designed to meet the curriculum requirement for Group 4 learners as specified in the NTF statutory guidance under section 15 of the Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (Wales) Act 2015 and section 60 of the Government of Wales Act 2006. This unit raises a learner’s awareness about children and young people’s experiences of VAWDASV.

Syllabus

This is an awareness raising unit.  Learning delivery must cover:

  • Young people’s experience of being direct victims in their personal relationships.
  • The experiences of young people who abuse.
  • Child sexual exploitation.
  • Child sexual abuse.
  • Forced marriage and honour-based violence.
  • Female genital mutilation.

  • The impact of VAWDASV on children and young people.

  • The different ways that children and young people can disclose.
  • The barriers that children and young people face when disclosing.
  • Different ways of enabling children and young people to disclose.

  • Practitioner boundaries in relation to disclosure.

AC 3.1
  • How multi-agency collaboration supports children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse and sexual violence.

  • Local and national agencies that support children and young people affected by domestica abuse and sexual violence.
