Robert Clapham

Robert Clapham joined the Board as an appointed member in 2015.

During his career Robert has gained extensive managerial and operational experience across a wide variety of sectors from education to manufacturing, and has gained an MA in Outdoor Education at University of Wales Trinity Saint David.

Robert is the Chief Executive Officer of RCTrainingWales, a leading outdoor education company specialising in delivering nationally accredited and certified courses for outdoor professionals that have included the military, the police and expedition leaders, particularly Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award providers. Robert also guest lectures in outdoor education at Welsh universities in both North and South Wales.

Through these roles and extensive voluntary work with Pontardawe Arena Partnership, the DofE, Welsh Ambulance Service and Mountain Rescue Organisations, Robert has gained a wealth of experience in developing and delivering training and engagement programmes which provide learners with new skills, qualifications and real life experience.  

Robert is Chairman of Youth Venture Trust and co-founder and former Lead Expedition Instructor of the DofE Open Gold Centre in Neath, Port Talbot. He currently heads the Assessment team for the DofE in Mid Wales and Brecon Beacons.
